AgriFoodTure is investing DKK 64 million in six innovation projects aimed at accelerating the green transition of the agricultural and food sector.
Meat alternatives made from brewery by-products, the use of crab proteins in animal feed, and the optimal utilization of grassland crops in cattle crop rotation. These are just some of the topics covered in the six projects that AgriFoodTure has invested DKK 64 million in.
“With the investment in these six new projects, we are accelerating the AgriFoodTure partnership’s mission to create innovative solutions that can contribute to achieving a 70 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in Denmark by 2030,” says Mission Director Anette Engelund Friis from AgriFoodTure.
The six projects are named MuscleFuel, MYCOFLAVOR, FOFE, UPFORCRABS, HyCheese, and ClimateReach. Behind the projects are 26 partners, ranging from universities and research institutions to companies, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs.
Ambitious goals
All six projects are based on AgriFoodTure’s roadmap, which has been developed by more than 300 researchers and experts. Prior to the investment in these six projects, there was an application round in which AgriFoodTure received 26 project proposals by the deadline.
“The six projects have a very ambitious level of ambition, a high degree of innovation, and a broad-based group of partners. Many of them are also international, and they all have a significant impact in terms of new solutions that will contribute to driving the green transformation on farms, in fields, and within food companies,” says Anette Engelund Friis.
“Also, the six projects have significant economic potential for Danish businesses and can power a new generation of green export opportunities,” she adds.
A platform for change
This is the second round of investments conducted by AgriFoodTure since the establishment of the partnership. The first round took place in 2021, with nearly DKK 50 million invested in 11 green innovation projects.
“With the new round of investments, we emphasize that AgriFoodTure has truly become a platform for change. We are uniting all efforts to create the necessary green transformation of the Danish agricultural and food sector, and with these new projects, we now have 67 partners working together on the green transition,” says Anette Engelund Friis.
AgroFoodTure’s investment in each of the six projects ranges from DKK 3 million to DKK 15 million. The projects will commence at the beginning of the new year and are expected to be completed by 2027.
